Dr. Farhat is General Manager of Eicon, a Consulting firm in ICT business. He co-founded and managed many telecom companies in Lebanon, Iraq, and West-Africa, including most recently Terranet and Cable One. He has 20 years’ experience in telecommunication business, wireless, broadband and ICT. Prior to 1996, he worked in the UK, as Principal Consultant at Dar-al-Handasah, and Senior Engineer at ERA Technology, in satellite communications, microwave and antenna technology.
He holds a PhD and BEng in Electronic Engineering from Sheffield University, and has lectured at Universities in the UK and at AUB. He is on AUB/CCE External Advisory Board and was External Examiner at the University of London (UCL). He is the author of a book and over 20 journal publications and holds a best-paper prize from the Institute of Electrical Engineers, UK. He is Member of the IEE and IEEE, and has held a number of Board positions on professional societies.
