Reef Kinetics Conducts Water Quality Tests in the Affected Areas Surrounding Beirut’s Port
Water issues, whether shortages, environmental pollution, access, or awareness are all issues pertaining to our daily lives and our health. Recent findings indicate Lebanon is currently facing water quality contamination at an unprecedented and concerning scale. Water quality is deteriorating because of:
- Lack of wastewater treatment
- Agricultural runoff (recent testing on select boreholes in Beqaa Valley found nitrate levels at more than 10 times the WHO safe limit)
- Saltwater intrusion in coastal areas
With an aim to change the face of water testing, Reef Kinetics create, test, and develop innovative products and equipment for water testing and automation, always looking to share knowledge with the local communities and enable them to take actions suited to their needs.
Reef Kinetics, one of IM Capital's portfolio companies, took part in the من_قلبي_دعم_لبيروت# relief initiative launched by IM Capital and funded by USAID, and decided to support families impacted by the Beirut Blast by getting their home’s water tested.
As a result, 401 water quality tests have been conducted in the affected areas surrounding Beirut's port.
Reef Kinetics started in 2016 driven by aquarium passion and love for reefing. Reef Kinetics launched in the market in 2017 with an aim to change the face of water testing and aquarium maintenance. We create innovative products to automate water testing and aim to eliminate error-prone manual results.
