The World Energy Council brings together 40 countries to discuss the problems facing the global energy industry. Today, The World Energy Council has almost 100 national member committees. Since 2012, LCEC acts as the secretariat of the Lebanon Committee of the World Energy Council, offering a platform for the development of the national committee. The WEC Lebanon Committee gathers more than 50 corporate and individual members.

On Tuesday, March 7, WEC Lebanon members gathered at Movenpick Hotel Beirut, from 3:00 till 6:00 pm, to discuss prominent subjects related to the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy in Lebanon:

  • Some GIZ projects such as the Sustainable Facility Management in Public Schools (SUFA) project under the education portfolio of the German Lebanese Cooperation
  • Taxation (custom duties, VAT)
  • Funding for the sector

Nicolas Rouhana, Chairman & CEO of IM, was invited to attend and speak at the event. Nicolas tackled the Funding topic highlighting the opportunities in the Energy sector in Lebanon.
