The first seminar on the Internet of Things in Lebanon was organized by the Faculty of Engineering at the Saint Joseph University (ESIB) on March 9, 2017. The seminar aimed to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration by bringing together Lebanese institutions, universities, funding and incubating partners, and industrials that are involved in IoT. Keynotes were delivered by Founder and CEO of award-winning IoT platform Scriptr.io, Rabih Nassar, and Chief of National Exploitation Services at the Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunication and Chief of Switching Department at Ogero, Antoine Aoun. Two panels took place, one of which was moderated by Dr. Nicolas Rouhana, General Manager at IM Capital, Board Member of ISOC, Berytech, and Lebanon Internet Center, and Associate Professor at ESIB. The panel, titled ‘IoT Applications & Opportunities’, addressed IoT solutions adapted to the Lebanese market needs or developed in Lebanon with the objective of identifying different use cases where IoT could be disruptive. Gathering professionals from diverse sectors, the panel tackled IoT opportunities in agriculture, industry, radio navigation, and health, as well as IoT industrial solutions.
