IM Capital Panelist at the Order of Engineers and Architects of Lebanon
Under the Patronage of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the Scientific Committee at the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut cordially organized its fourth conference for 2018-2019 titled “Architecture & Engineering Education in the Fourth Industrial Revolution” on March 26 and 27, 2019, at the OEA in Bir Hasan. The conference shed light on the impact of the fourth industrial revolution on higher education both globally and locally. It exposed ways for rethinking the education of architects and engineers in higher institutions through innovative pedagogical shifts, while reflecting on crucial aspects of self-learning, interdisciplinary thinking, and ethics for the future engineer and architect.
The conference included speakers from the Architecture and Engineering disciplines, from renowned local and global institutions, and covered several themed sessions during the two days. Dr Rouhana was invited as speaker to the conference on the second day, on the third panel titled Projections for the future: the Future Engineer/Architect. The panel considered how the education of the architect/ engineer needs to move forward and prepare the future graduate for a highly developed world and a changed practice. He exposed his own experience on the needed skills and characteristics of the future engineer/architect, amidst the radical shifts in practice. The panel included other architecture and engineering faculty and practitioners, and ended with an open discussion.
