The Techne Summit Alexandria is an international multi-industry focused Investment & Entrepreneurship event that aims to impact multiple sectors and stakeholders of the Startup Communities in The Mediterranean Region through showcasing different technologies and their application in each industry.
This year, the ninth edition of the Summit was held from October 7 till October 10, in Alexandria, Egypt.
Antoun Mouawad, VP Investment at IM, was invited to attend as a Moderator and Speaker on two panels.
The first panel titled “Gen Z and the Future of Consumer Trends: Investing in Youth-Driven Markets” was held on Saturday, October 7, and Antoun joined as a speaker.
The talk revolved around the following topics:
- Key Consumer Trends (BNPL, Luxuries, Social Commerce...)
- How to mitigate risks related to investments in youth-driven markets (Equity Guarantees, Technical Assistance, Mentoring...)
- How the youth trends shift during crisis times from adopters of technologies to putting those technologies into the service of real day to day problems that they are experiencing especially in Financial Technologies, Renewable Energy...
The second panel titled “Cross-Border Angel Investing: Unlocking Opportunities and Overcoming Challenges” held on Sunday, October 8, was moderated by Antoun Mouawad.
The topics addressed during this panel included the following:
- Challenges of Cross-Border Angel Investing (Legal, Infrastructure, Due Diligence, Cultural differences)
- Opportunities of Cross-Border Angel Investing (Diversification, New markets...)
- Current status and examples of decentralized ecosystems
- How to facilitate cross-border investing, from each panelist’s perspective
The Techne Summit Alexandria concluded with fruitful networking opportunities, connecting investors, mentors, startups, and innovators from diverse backgrounds, and fostering potential collaborations to shape the future of tech and innovation.
