Agritech Garbaliser secures $436K investment from Shark Tank Dubai

Founded in 2020 in Lebanon’s Baalbek region by sisters Hanan and Zeinab Ismail, Garbaliser emerged from a genuine quest to address Lebanon’s escalating garbage crisis, exacerbated during the COVID-19 lockdown and the pinnacle of the Lebanese economic downturn.

In a significant stride towards environmental sustainability, the founders Hanan and Zeinab are committed to providing eco-friendly solutions by transforming organic waste and natural leftovers into high-quality liquid fertilizers, using advanced fermentation systems, that not only enhance agricultural productivity but also contribute to a greener future. A future where all farmers have access to affordable and organic natural fertilizers, to nourish their crops and enrich the soil, ensuring abundant and nutritious food for all.

GARBALISER is a portfolio company under IM’s Seeders Accelerator program funded by USAID MENA Investment Initiative (MENA II), which has secured a $436K investment from Shark Tank Dubai, acquiring a 12% stake in the company. The committed investors are Noor Sweid, Founder of Global Ventures and Youssef Hammad, Managing Partner at BECO Capital. The company will use the funding to expand their operations to the UAE market in 2024, with ambitious plans for further expansion into Jordan and the GCC, yielding cleaner produce compared to chemical alternatives.

In addition to the Shark Tank Dubai triumph, Garbaliser also secured backing from the Ground Up Capital Fund in the USA in 2023, amplifying its global footprint and fortifying its mission to combat pollution through sustainable innovation.

With a robust clientele base exceeding 400 in Lebanon’s Baalbek region, the startup has firmly positioned itself as a key player in the local market. Following the financial backing and new partnerships with regional and international entities, GARBALISER is poised to navigate international markets and capitalize on the growing demand for its innovative solution.
