IM Capital Attending GITEX 2018
IM Capital among other international investors was invited to attend GITEX on its 38th edition at the World Trade Center in Dubai from the 14th till the 17th of October 2018. GITEX Future Starts is the region biggest and fastest growing startup shop gathering more than 850 startups from 75+ countries. This year, GITEX inaugurated the Global Investors Summit (G2i), the year’s biggest network of tech investors in UAE and the wider MENA region to-date. The Summit gathered leading regional funds and LPs, alongside family offices, institutional and private investors. Over 2 days, the Summit navigated the region’s diversifying funding and investment ecosystem offering all participant a unique occasion to get in first on the latest opportunities for investment, co-creation and capital access. For the second year in a row, Speed@BDD led a Lebanese Startup Delegation gathering 15 Lebanese founded startups. Speed received a sponsorship for a Lebanese Pavilion from the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL) and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIABML) and with the support from the Lebanese Prime Minister's office.
In fact, one of the exhibiting Lebanese startups, Spike, won the first prize at the GITEX Supernova Challenge receiving $100K. Spike is a mobile assistant that helps diabetics better manage their diabetes. Spike monitors the patient's daily behavior and jumps in with reminders and tips when needed about insulin, food, activity, etc. Additionally, Spike stores the patient's data for further analysis and/or sharing with doctors and caregivers.
