On September 7, 2016, IM Capital finalized the matching capital investment terms in KamKalima, a web-based platform for K-12 schools that helps teachers create engaging writing-based assignements in Arabic. Kamkalima is a first mover and market leader in the Arabic Ed-Tech cloud-based industry. Tapping on the lack of Arabic resources and education tools and the weak Arabic typing skills among students, the co-founders build on their extensive expertise as educators to launch KamKalima. KamKalima will make the learning and the Arabic classroom teaching more engaging, helping teachers in lesson preparation and enhancing student recognition through social learning as grades are shared among all school participants. Pilot programs have showed a real need for a platform such as Kamkalima, both for teachers and students. Moving forward, improvements to the platform will take place to increase engagement and enhance the offering.
